Joining our events in 2024 is Lombard Rally Liverpool, a new multi-venue demonstration event. Based at, plus starting and finishing at Aintree Racecourse, on Saturday August 17th 2024, to follow the 1976 Lombard RAC Rally route through the Mersey Tunnel to the Wirral.
In 1976, after a tough overnight running stages in North Yorkshire, Hamsterley and Keilder, breakfast was taken by the crews at Carlisle Airport. After breakfast the crews tackled stages in the Lake District, including the daunting Wythop with its huge 'fresh air' drops, before moving on to Liverpool. In the Wirral they tackled timed stages at New Brighton Promenade and around the access roads to the Vauxhall factory at Ellesmere Port. Lined with spectators on the Sunday afternoon.
In 2024 we will recreate as much of this as possible, before the day ends back at Aintree with laps of the old Aintree racing circuit. following in the wheeltracks of greats like Stirling Moss and Jimmy Clark who won the British Grand Prix when based here.
